PRIVACY POLICY
1. Who we are
This policy covers the mobile game Glitch Guardian ("the app", "the game"), published via this website, glitch-guardian.com ("we", "us"). It explains what data is processed when you play, why, and the choices you have. Contact for anything privacy-related: support@glitch-guardian.com.
2. The one-table overview
| Data | Where it lives | Purpose | Shared? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scores, records, sound & haptics settings, ad-pacing timestamps | On your device only (app storage) | Making the game work: your best score, your preferences | No. Deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall. |
| Names and icons of launchable apps on your device | Read on-device at runtime; never stored beyond the session, never transmitted | Naming the levels — you "defend" your own games. That is the whole joke. | No. This data does not leave the device and we never see it. |
| Advertising ID, IP address, coarse device signals | Processed by Google AdMob (Google LLC) | Serving, frequency-capping, and measuring ads | With Google and its advertising partners, per Google's policies and your consent choices (see section 5). |
3. What the app itself collects: nothing
The app has no login, no user accounts, no cloud saves, no crash-reporting SDK, and no analytics SDK of ours. We operate no backend for the game. We could not look up "your data" if you asked us to, because we never receive any.
Your progress (best score, lifetime points) and settings (sound, haptics) are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them permanently.
4. About the installed-apps list
Glitch Guardian's premise is that you defend the games already on your phone. To show them, the app asks Android for the list of launchable apps (the modern, limited <queries> mechanism — not the broad "query all packages" permission).
- The list is used solely to render level tiles: an app's name, icon, and a fictional "memory address" derived from its package name.
- No app is ever opened, read, scanned, modified, or interfered with. The "scan" is an animation.
- The list is not stored beyond the running session, not written to any server, and not shared with anyone — including us and including advertisers.
We treat the installed-apps list as sensitive data. Its use is strictly on-device, which is also what the in-app disclaimer ("simulation — no real apps are accessed or modified") states on every scan screen.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The game is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To serve and measure ads, Google's SDK may collect and process data on your device, such as:
- the device advertising ID (resettable in Android settings);
- IP address and coarse location derived from it;
- device and app metadata (device model, OS version, app package name);
- ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, rewarded-ad completions).
How Google uses this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy and Google's advertising documentation.
Consent. In the European Economic Area, the UK, and other regions where a consent framework applies, the app shows Google's consent form (UMP) before any ad request is made. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in the app: scan screen → PRIVACY → AD CONSENT SETTINGS. Depending on your choice, ads are personalised or non-personalised (limited).
Content rating. We cap ad content served in the app at Google's PG rating.
6. Your choices and rights
- Change ad consent: in-app via PRIVACY → AD CONSENT SETTINGS (where a consent framework applies).
- Reset or delete the advertising ID: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it opts the device out of personalised advertising.
- Delete all local game data: Android Settings → Apps → Glitch Guardian → Storage → Clear data, or simply uninstall.
- GDPR / UK GDPR: you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because we hold no personal data server-side, these rights are in practice exercised against Google for ad data (see the links in section 5); for anything else, contact us and we will help: support@glitch-guardian.com.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell personal information. Ad personalisation choices are controlled via the consent form and the device advertising settings described above.
7. Children
Glitch Guardian is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your country). We tag ad requests as not child-directed and cap ad content at PG. The app contains no chat, no user-generated content, and no purchases. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, the local-data and advertising-ID controls in section 6 remove everything the app or the ads SDK could have stored.
8. Security & retention
All game data is stored in the app's sandboxed private storage, protected by Android's app isolation. We retain nothing ourselves. Data processed by Google is retained according to Google's retention policies.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change (for example, a new SDK), this policy will be updated first, with a new "last updated" date, and material changes will be called out in the app's store listing changelog. The current version always lives at glitch-guardian.com/privacy.
